Ex-Army Chief, Maj. Gen. David Ejoor, is dead

A former Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen. David Akpode Ejoor, is dead, DAILY POST has learnt.

His nephew, Shagari Francis Ejoor, confirmed the report, stressing that the former Governor of the defunct Mid Western State died after battling with a protracted ailment in an undisclosed hospital in Lagos State.

President of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU Worldwide, Chief Joe Omene in a chat with DAILY POST expressed shock over the report.

Chief Omene said, “I am not aware he is dead. It should not be true. But if it is true, it is a big blow to Nigeria and the Urhobo people.

“As an UPU leader, Maj. Gen. David Ejoor is a quiet mover in Urhobo land. He does things slowly but with results. As an elder, he was willing to take advice from the younger ones and he was not involved in any controversy.

“His position will be difficult to fill in Urhobo land but I pray it is not true. We are consoled he is an example of humility. He was not arrogant and not the type you can influence with money. He was an Urhobo man with integrity.”

The family is yet to confirm the development.
