EPL: What Unai Emery said about Aubameyang after Arsenal’s defeat to Chelsea

Arsenal manager, Unai Emery has backed the performances of striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after his side’s 3-2 defeat to Chelsea in Saturday’s Premier League clash.

Goals from Pedro, Morata and Alonso ensured victory for the Blues against the Gunners at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening as Mkhitaryan and Iwobi scored for the visitors.

Emery, however, supported Aubameyang, who missed a golden opportunity to level the game at 1-1 after 19 minutes when he skied a cutback from right-back, Hector Bellerin.

The Spaniard believes the Gabonese international had a bad day against the Maurizio Sarri’s side.

“Today, with Aubameyang, I know he can play,” Mirror quoted Emery as saying at the post-match conference.

“Maybe there’s one moment where he misses three good chances, but another where they’ll score three chances that are less clear. I am calm with that.”

He added, “The first half we created more chances to score – 2-2 is also maybe short for us, because we created more chances (than Chelsea).

“I was calm when I saw my team creating chances. Goal, no goal, we need to continue working,” he said.
