The Red Devils on Wednesday confirmed that they have agreed a deal with Sporting Lisbon for Fernandes.
However, speaking to BBC after their 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Carabao Cup later in the day, Solskjaer said: “Bruno Fernandes ready to play against Wolves? Let’s get the contract signed and transfer done. The boy is fit and ready to play.
“What can Bruno Fernandes bring? A lot. Hopefully, we can get it over the line then we can talk more about the boy.”
United will pay an initial fee of 55m euros (ÂŁ46.56m) plus add-ons for Fernandes, with the deal eventually rising to 80m euros (ÂŁ67.76m).
Sporting would receive a further 10m euros (ÂŁ8.46m) from the Red Devils if Fernandes reaches what are considered easily achievable targets and an additional 15m euros (ÂŁ12.7m) if more difficult targets are met.
