Former Manchester United midfielder, Paul Scholes, has lauded striker, Romelu Lukaku’s first season at the Red Devils.

Speaking on Lukaku’s first season performances for United, Scholes told BT Sport: “He’s had a great year”.

“Obviously I think the thing about him was could he do it in big games and I think in the last couple of games he has done that; he played well against Liverpool, and scored against Chelsea.”

“For his first season, as a young centre-forward at a big club, he’s done well.”

Lukaku, who joined United from Everton for an initial £75m in the summer, has netted 25 goals this season for the Red Devils in all competitions.

The Belgian international has scored 10 goals in his last 14 games for United.

The forward also has more assists this season than ever.
