EPL: Mourinho speaks on Sanchez returning to Manchester United X1

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has spoken on the return of forward, Alexis Sanchez to the first team in their 0-0 draw with Major League Soccer side, San Jose Earthquakes.

The Portuguese insisted that the player “needed” to play in the pre-season clash with Earthquakes.

A weakened United side played out a 0-0 draw with the MLS side but Sanchez was a star performer with 65 minutes under his belt.

Sanchez was substituted in the second half with Mason Greenwood replacing him, but the former Chelsea manager was satisfied with what he saw.

“Good for him, first time he plays and after some individual sessions, he needed this,” Mourinho told a post-match press conference after the match.

“He made a good effort. A good physical effort which is important for him at this moment.”

The Chile international was delayed in joining his team-mates in the US following legal issues and his visa situation.

He trained on his own back in Manchester but he touched down on Saturday to link up with the rest of the squad before playing against the Earthquakes.
