EPL: Ian Wright reveals two Arsenal players who impressed in 2-0 loss to Manchester City

A former Arsenal player, Ian Wright has identified two Arsenal players whose presence, impressed him in Gunners’ 2-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

In Unai Emery’s first game in charge of Arsenal, the Gunners were outclassed by reigning champions, City.

England forward, Raheem Sterling fired the visitors in front on 14 minutes, and Bernardo Silva wrapped up the win with a fine second-half strike.

But despite the defeat, Wright said he was impressed by debutants: Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira.

French teenager, Guendouzi started the fixture while Torreira, who joined Arsenal from Sampdoria earlier in the summer, came on for the final 20 minutes.

On Twitter, Wright said 19-year-old Guendouzi, “Showed some serious character” and also heaped praise on Uruguay international, Torreira.

However, he also issued a word of warning to new manager Emery, saying he will need to make some “big positional and personnel decisions” ahead of next weekend’s clash against Chelsea.

“At this level against this Man City team you need to 100% execute the game plan,” he added.

“For large parts of that game I didn’t know what that was and you get punished for that tactical uncertainty.”
