EPL: Frank Lampard backs Salah over Ronaldo, Messi for Ballon d’Or

Chelsea legend, Frank Lampard has backed Liverpool ace, Mohamed Salah over rivals, Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, for the Ballon d’Or following Salah’s heroic performance for the Reds this season.

Lampard believed the 25-year-old can compete with Ronaldo and Messi, who have both shared the last ten Ballon d’Or awards since Kaka’s triumph in 2007.

“After being named PFA Player of the Year, he can now put himself in the bracket for the Ballon d’Or too,” Lampard told Evening Standard.

“It will be hard for him to break the group that is Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. It will take a lot to do that.

“But if he takes Liverpool to the Champions League title, that could well do it.”

Meanwhile, Salah will hope to take Liverpool to their first Champions League final since 2007 against Roma in the first leg of the semi-finals clash at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Salah, who joined Liverpool from Roma last summer for £39 million, has so far scored 41 goals in all competitions for Liverpool this term.

The Egyptian international was named the PFA Player of the Year last week.
