EPL: Finishing second last season one of my greatest achievements – Mourinho

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has declared that finishing second last season is one of his greatest achievements in his managerial career.

Mourinho finished 19 points behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, in his second season at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese also slammed the media, for not criticizing Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspurs, who finished third and fourth respectively.

“My view is that first of all it’s difficult for me to believe we finished second,” Mourinho said of last season, while addressing the media on Thursday, ahead of their Premier League opener against Leicester City on Friday.

“When I listen, when I read, it’s difficult to believe we finished second because you are capable of making people who finish second (sound like we) were relegated.

“You are capable of making people who win nothing and finish below us look like serial winners.

“It’s difficult for me to believe we finished second. Sometimes it’s also difficult to believe I won eight championships and three Premier Leagues, and I keep thinking the second position last year was one of my biggest achievements in England.”
