EPL: Chelsea vs Arsenal: Team news, injuries, possible lineups

[ad_1]

Arsenal will on Saturday evening clash with Chelsea in the Premier League at the Stamford Bridge.

The Gunners head to the game following a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in their last league game on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium.

The North London club have failed to win at the home of the Blues in the last seven league seasons.

Arsenal manager, Unai Emery has no new injuries worries in his squad ahead of the clash.

Emery may well try to find a way to feature both strikers, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to lead the attack.

Goalkeeper, Petr Cech will retain his place in favour of Bernd Leno, who is being made to wait for his chance to shine.

Defender, Nacho Monreal is back in training and may well go straight into the side at left-back, while striker, Danny Welbeck is also in contention for his first time this season.

Lucas Torreira is in line for a first start after a shortened pre-season, which could see young midfielder, Matteo Guendouzi dropping down to the bench.

Meanwhile, Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea head to the game after beating Huddersfield Town 3-0 in their last EPL game last week.

Chelsea and Arsenal have met nine times in the last 14 months, most recently facing off in Dublin two weeks ago in a pre-season friendly when the Emirates club recovered from a goal down to draw 1-1, before prevailing on penalties.

Midfielder, Mateo Kovacic has been given a full week’s training and has been tipped to replace Ross Barkley in a midfield three alongside, Jorginho and Kante.

Striker, Olivier Giroud, who is working his way back to fitness, is looking to become just the second player to score for both sides in this Premier League fixture, having netted against the Blues in February, 2017.

The other player to manage that feat is Cesc Fabregas, who is unlikely to play any part this weekend due to a knock.

Chelsea’s potential starting XI: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Alonso; Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic; Pedro, Morata, Willian

Arsenal’s potential starting XI: Cech; Bellerin, Mustafi, Sokratis, Monreal; Torreira, Xhaka; Ozil, Ramsey, Mkhitaryan; Aubameyang

The kick off time for the match is 5:30pm.
