Arsenal have said they will appoint a new manager “as soon as possible”.

This follows Arsene Wenger’s decision to step down at the end of the 2017/2018 season.

The club in an official statement on Friday, confirmed Wenger will lead the team until the end of the season, before a new man takes over.

“Arsène will lead the team to the end of the season and we will make an appointment as soon as possible.

“The club will not be making any further comment on the selection process until an appointment is made,” it read.

During his 22-year stint at the club, Wenger won three Premier League titles and famously went unbeaten in the 2003/2004 campaign.

He also clinched seven FA Cups and won seven Community Shield titles.
