Election timetable: ‘Weak’ Buhari created his own problems – Junaid Mohammed

A Second Republic Lawmaker, Junaid Muhammed has described President Muhammadu Buhari as a weak leader following the reordering of the 2019 election timetable by the National Assembly.

Mohammed said Buhari would hurt himself, adding that the same people that won parliamentary elections under the same political party with him were the ones seeking his downfall at the national assembly.

Fielding questions from Vanguard, Mohammed said members of Buhari’s political party were now acting as opposition to him, but added that the President created the problem that was trying to swallow him and his party.

According to him, “Members of his (Buhari) party are the people leading the revolt against him and the APC in the Senate and House of Representatives. And it will surely hurt him as a weak leader. He is the architect of his misfortune and the mess that is now playing out at the national assembly.

“The idea that the same people who won election into the parliament on the same platform with the President are now behaving as opponents of the President and their party is arrant nonsense.

“And that has happened because the system that brought them is utterly bankrupt. We knew what happened. Of course, we knew how the leadership of both the Senate and House of Representatives emerged.

“For the President to assume that he is for everybody and for nobody is a naïve and dangerous assumption. He created the crisis that is now threatening to swallow him and his party.”
