DSS Intercepts Hidden Guns in Sack of Yams in Kano

The Department of State Services (DSS) intercepted guns concealed in a sack of yams in Kano on Thursday and arrested two suspects. The suspects were reportedly in transit to deliver the arms for a planned attack on one of the Northern states when they were apprehended. DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, disclosed to journalists in Abuja that two AK-47 rifles and two empty AK-47 magazines were intercepted, along with a red boxer motorcycle and the sack of yams concealing the weapons.

Afunanya urged operators and patrons of fun, hospitality, and tourism centers, particularly hoteliers, to enhance their security during the Eid-el-Fitri period. He emphasized the importance of citizens being extra vigilant and reporting any unusual or suspicious movements, persons, or acts to the nearest security agencies. The DSS pledges to collaborate with sister agencies and other stakeholders to ensure adequate security during and after the Eid al-fitr celebrations.
