Yahaya Bello, Governor of Kogi State, has reacted to the travails of Senator from his state, Dino Melaye, in the hands of security operatives.

Bello said he read the ordeals of the Kogi West Senator in the media as the “law enforcement agencies are carrying out their lawful duties.”

Bello said, “I read it in the news and watch it on television as law enforcement agencies are carrying out their normal lawful duties and that is all I can say about that.”

The governor also stated that members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, were determined to support President Muhammadu Buhari to continue providing “purposeful” leadership.

“As for the party, we have a strong and purposeful leader in the person of President Muhammadu Buhari who is giving us leadership and direction and everyone of us in APC will align with him one hundred percent,” he said.

Melaye is currently under investigation by the Nigeria Police Force.

Just last week, the Senator was alleged to have jumped off a police van in Abuja while being transported to Kogi State to face criminal charges.

Following the incident, the lawmaker sustained injuries and is currently at the intensive care unit of the National Hospital in Abuja.
