Delta APC Attacks Okowa’s govt over N521million allegedly spent on road rehabilitation

Chairman of the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Jones Erhue has described the N521million allegedly spent on 40 rehabilitated roads during the first 100 days of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in office as a fraud, adding that the Okowa-led administration was not prepared for infrastructural development in the state, rather “it is all fraud and insensitivity to Deltans”.

Jones, who spoke to DAILY POST in Asaba on Thursday, said, “We at the APC are very much prepared to take over power from Governor Okowa, the N521million he allegedly spent through DLA project, shows litany of frauds, and is a clear indication that PDP in Delta State has nothing to offer rather hoodwinking Deltans into fictitious projects, we have seen where they claimed that several roads have been constructed, where are the roads? this government of PDP led by Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is a failure”.

But in a swift reaction, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Charles Aniagwu described the statement credited to the APC leader in the state as frivolous, and unguided, adding that “Okowa’s track records clearly show real developmental stride, roads are visible, so many projects and roads have been constructed and executed, APC Government has failed Nigerians, and has nothing to offer rather it is a toothless bull dog, they cannot in any way win any election in Delta State because the party has nothing to offer”.

However, the Board of the Delta State Direct Labour Agency, DLA, has said that it has rehabilitated fourty roads in one hundred days in the sum of N521million.

Mr. Frank Enekorogha, Director General of the Agency who spoke to our correspondent in Asaba, disclosed that the Agency fixed fourty roads with the determination to make most of the roads functioned during the end of 2016.

He said, “In 2016 DLA rehabilitated fourty roads with the sum of N521m across the state. The state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is determined to provide the dividends of democracy to Deltas, so many roads were also rehabilitated in 2017 and in 2018 we are doing a lot hence we are asking for a second mandate from Deltans to enable the governor fulfill his Smart Agenda of providing prosperity for all Deltans”.

Enekorogha said that more than 80 per cent of the roads in the state require full intervention of the agency, adding that “on assumption of office, we took a tour of some existing roads and captured 517 roads across the state presently among others”.
