Confusion trails ‘removal’ of Adamu as northern senators’ chairman

Crisis rocking the Northern Senators Forum took a new dimension on Thursday as the group has denied removing it’s chairman, Senator Abdullahi.

Senator Ali Wakili, representing Bauchi South Senatorial district, an active member of the forum, raised through order 14 and 15, explained that Adamu was never removed.

“Mr. President, distinguished colleagues, I come from the North. I am an active member of the Northern Senators forum, at no time have we removed Adamu as chairman.”

“Senator Barau Jibrin is the Secretary of the forum and has never called for a meeting. Dino Melaye, the PRO has never called a meeting for such decision to be taken.”

He berated Senator Shehu Sani for calling some of them “monkeys” on pages of newspapers.

Wakili urged northern Senators not to destroy the forum, maintaining that it was in the interest of northern states that the forum exists.

DAILY POST reported on Wednesday that Abdullahi Adamu was removed, while Senator Aliyu Wamakko was announced as his replacement.
