Cholera, Lassa fever kill 14 in Bauchi

About 14 people have been confirmed dead in Bauchi state following the outbreak of cholera and Lassa fever

The Commissioner of Health, Dr Zuwaira Hassan, revealed this to DAILY POST in an interview.

According to Hassan, 9 were killed by Cholera while 5 were killed by Lassa Fever.

The Commissioner said the incident cut across six LGA out of 20; namely Gamawa,Ganjuwa, Toro, Darazo, Bauchi and Tafawa Balewa LGAs.

Hassan stressed that about 324 cases of Cholera have been reported while 44 cases of Lassa fever have similarly been reported

” I want to infirm the general public that all those affected by the diseases are currently under treatment at the famous Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching hospital” Hassan said

DAILY POST had reported that three students of Kangere College of Education died last week of cholera outbreak in Bauchi state.

Hassan, however, maintained that government had already taken the appropriate measures to curb the challenges.
