Champions League: What Klopp told Liverpool players at half time in 2-1 win over Man City

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, has revealed what he told his players at half time that led to their 2-1 win over Manchester City at the Etihad on Tuesday.

Liverpool beat Man City 2-1 in the second leg of the Champions League quarter final to book their place in the semifinal 5-1 on aggregate.

Gabriel Jesus’ goal after two minutes gave City even more confidence to push forward.

City were unable to find a second by half-time, although they were unlucky to have Leroy Sane’s goal ruled out by an incorrect offside decision.

In the second half, Liverpool equalised as Mohamed Salah finished a swift counter-attacking move.

Roberto Firmino made it 2-1 for Liverpool with 13 minutes remaining. Klopp admits his players needed a strong message at half-time.

He said, “I said at half-time, if we score a goal it will change the atmosphere. That was clear.

“You saw the City line-up, they took all the risk. But there was always a chance for us.

“I would have been nervous at 3-0 down at half-time, but we would still have had a chance.”
