Champions League: PSG coach, Emery speaks on Neymar undergoing foot surgery

Paris Saint-Germain manager, Unai Emery, has claimed that no decision has been taken on if Neymar will undergo a foot operation, amid reports that the Brazil international could miss three months action.

Neymar suffered a crack in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot and sprained his ankle during PSG’s 3-0 win over Marseille on Sunday.

It is understood that the player has already rejected the idea of using painkillers, if they would be required for him to play in next week’s crucial Champions League clash against Real Madrid.

Brazilian outlet, Globo Esporte, reported that Neymar would undergo surgery and need three months to recover.

However, Emery told a news conference on Tuesday that nothing has been decided regarding surgery.

He even expressed hope that the forward would be fit for the second leg of the round-of-16 tie against Real Madrid on March 6.

“It is false. No decision to operate has been taken.

“I have met with the doctor, and he told me that the sprain was swollen. His fifth metatarsal has a crack in it. We will take a decision in the coming days. However, for the moment, calm is needed,” he said.
