Champions League: Manchester City thrash Basel 4-0, make history

Manchester City on Tuesday, made history after their comprehensive 4-0 victory over Swiss side FC Basel in the Champions League round of sixteen.

The Citizens took a massive step towards the quarter-finals with the win away at St Jakob-Park and also look favourites to win Europe’s premier competition this year.

Ilkay Gundogan stole the headlines with goals either side of the break for City and Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero were the other scorers.

The 4-0 result was the biggest away win in the knockout stages by a Premier League club in the history of the UEFA Champions League.

In 2006/07 season, Liverpool held the previous record with their 3-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven in the quarter-finals.
