Champions League: Chelsea vs Barcelona: Messi aiming to end goalscoring curse

[ad_1]

Barcelona forward, Lionel Messi, will be hoping to score his first ever goal against Chelsea, when both sides clash in the Champions League round of 16 on Tuesday night.

Messi has won eight La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues, three FIFA Club World Cups, five Ballon d’Or awards, but has never found the back of the net against the Blues.

The Argentina captain has faced Chelsea eight times, against three different managers, but has failed to find the net in each one, totalling a combined 655 minutes.

Even during his record breaking 73 goals in the 2011/12 season, he still fired blanks in both matches he played against the Premier League champions.

The closest he came to scoring, was when he took a penalty at Nou Camp and crashed it against the bar in 2012, when Chelsea went on to win the trophy at the Allianz Arena.
