Buhari’s Taraba visit: Killings should not be politicised – ACF

The Arewa Consultative Forum has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over his visit to Taraba State and planned trips to Benue, Zamfara, and Yobe states.

The ACF in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Biu, appealed to Nigerians not to politicise or put ethnic or religious connotations to the killings.

The northern body said the President’s visit was appropriate and not politicised.

The statement read, “Also, President Buhari’s planned visits to Benue, Zamfara and other troubled states, where innocent people were killed by suspected herdsmen, bandits and militias are appropriate.

“No amount of condolence visits can compensate for the loss of lives and property destroyed; it is unhelpful to always politise tragedies.

“Let’s appreciate the effort of the government in addressing the issues and urge them, especially our security agencies, to be more proactive in tackling the security challenges.”
