President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday said his government was on its toes to address security issues being experienced across the country.

The president spoke through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, who represented him at the opening ceremony of the Catholic Bishops Conference, in Abuja.

President Buhari said: “It is my sincere hope and believe that you will collectively continue to join forces to promote peace, safety and unity across the country.

”The Federal Government will make sure that the perpetrators of violence attacks in the country will be made to pay the price and face the wrath of the law.

”The Federal Government is taking steps and measures to stem the tide of series of security breach in some parts of the country.

“I firmly believe in the relevance and importance of the church in shaping the society through inculcating norms, values and moral principles in the society.

“No doubt the church has no small measure complemented the efforts of the Federal Government in times past and always with prayers.”

Buhari said that Nigerian youths require entrepreneurial skills that would redirect their focus from overdependence on the government and the white-collar jobs in the public sector.

He urged the church not to relent in assisting and training the youths in different skill acquisition.

According to him, Nigeria is indeed blessed with abundant natural and human resources in which most remains yet untapped especially in the steel and mining sector.
