Report reaching DAILY POST Tuesday evening has confirmed that the kidnapped twins of Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Lekan Balogun have regained their freedom.

The twins were said to have been released in Lagos.

They were abducted last week at the Akobo Ibadan residence of the Otun Olubadan

The Olubadan second-in-command, who confirmed the release Tuesday evening, however, said a ransom of N10 million was paid for the release of the twins, a boy and a girl.

Balogun, who said he was yet to see the twins, confirmed to newsmen in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, that the mother of the twins had seen the abducted children.

He said he heard their voices and was happy that they were released unhurt.

High Chief Balogun, who represented Oyo Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly between 1999 and 2003, also disclosed that his wife and the mother of the twins, Mrs. Funmilayo Balogun had gone to Lagos to monitor the medical check-up of the twins and bring them back to Ibadan.

He maintained that the on-the-spot assessment by his wife reinforced his belief and conviction that the children were released unhurt.

He also confirmed the payment of N10m ransom before the release of the children.

He, however, said that the money was nothing compared to the joy of the safe return of his kids.

The mother of the twins, Mrs Balogun who also corroborated the report given by her husband in a telephone conversation with journalists disclosed that she could not vividly describe her state of mind on sighting the children seven days after they were abducted.

Mrs Balogun said: “To say that I was happy and I’m still happy now is an understatement and I can’t be thankful enough to God Almighty for protecting my children during the period, just as I thank everybody involved in the release”.

She expressed optimism that the medical report being awaited would be favourable and promised that they would come back to Ibadan as soon as possible.
