Bauchi: Bala Mohammed attracts Chinese investors

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has asked the Chinese Government and business community to invest in the moribund industries of the state to help create job opportunities for citizens.

The state-owned factories in Bauchi such as the Bauchi Meat Factory, Styr Nigeria Limited, Bauchi Furnitures, and Bauchi Fertiliser Blending Company have operated abysmally for years.

Speaking in Bauchi at the Government House, on Thursday, the governor said that he hosted the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria HE Cui Juanchun on the side of Bauchi Investment Opportunity.

Mohammed said over 4.2 million hectares of arable land which the state is blessed with can support a systematic shift from subsistence agricultural farming to mechanized large-scale commercial farming.

He listed other sectors which might be of interest including the Yankari Game Reserve, Sumu Wild Life Park in the Tourism sector, while the Bauchi Meat Factory, Dairy Farm, and other industries need urgent attention.

Responding, Juanchun said China will assist Bauchi in the area of infrastructure, ICT, agriculture, industries and investment.
