Tambuwal made the call when the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya visited the state on Monday, saying that bandits who were being pounded in the neighbouring Zamfara State were relocating to Sokoto State.
The governor maintained that additional deployment of the army to the state has become necessary given the frequency of attacks, revealing that some people now lives in fear.
Tambuwal, who assured the military of government’s support said: “The call is a result of the ongoing military operations in Zamfara State as criminals have been migrating to Sokoto, rendering the state insecure.”
He further called for simultaneous operation in all states facing the challenges of banditry and other related security issues in the North West, which he added that Sokoto has become bandits concentration now.
There were reports that Goronyo market in Goronyo Local Government Council in Sokoto Eastern Senatorial district was attacked by bandits on Sunday evening leaving scores dead and several others injured.
