Atiku speaks on Shagaya‎’s death

Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President, has reacted to the death of late Senator from Plateau State, John Shagaya.

The Waziri of Adamawa described the late Brig Gen as a fine military officer, a democrat and a statesmam.

In a tweet, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain said Shagaya’s contribution as a military officer and lawmaker had enriched Nigeria’s quest for safety.

He wrote: “The late Brig. Gen. John Shagaya was a fine military officer, a democrat and a statesman.

“His many contributions both in uniform and in the senate have enriched our quest for a safer country and expanded our conversation about building a virile democracy. May he rest.”

The deceased who was a former Minister of Internal Affairs, died on Sunday in a road accident along Langtang-Pankshin road in Plateau.

Shagaya’s death was subsequently confirmed by the Mr Dan Dandur, former Chairman, Langtang North Local Government.
