Danny Welbeck scored twice as Arsenal held Southampton to win 3-2 at the Emirates in Sunday’s early kick-off.

Manager Arsene Wenger rested several key players, ahead of next Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final second leg against CSKA Moscow in Russia.

Shane Long ghosted past Shkodran Mustafi to open scoring, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s effort trickled in to make it 1-1.

Welbeck cut in from the left to fire the Gunners in front via a deflection before the break.

The Saints were level in the second half thanks to super sub Charlie Austin, but Welbeck headed in the winner for the hosts.
