APC ward congresses: Abia APC stakeholders hail peaceful conduct of exercise

The All Progressives Congress chieftains in Abia State have reacted to the Saturday’s ward congresses of the party held in the state.

Recall that APC ward congresses held in Abia state on Saturday but was extended to Sunday due to some lapses.

Speaking to DAILY POST in an interview on Tuesday in Umuahia, the state capital, an APC stakeholder in the state and a House of Representatives aspirant for Ikwuano/Umuahia constituency, Mr. Ikechukwu Apugo described the exercise as peaceful and transparent.

Apugo expressed joy that the congresses ushered in credible people that would steer the affairs of the party at the ward levels for four years.

He said, “our ward congress held in Abia was very peaceful, unlike other states where violence trailed theirs. During the congress Saturday and Sunday, credible people were elected to steer the affairs of the party at the ward levels”.

Mr. Maduakolam Adighibe, a House of Representative aspirant on the platform of APC, hailed the peaceful conduct of the exercise in the state, boasting that APC was now positioned to clinch power come 2019.

According to him, “The Abia APC ward congresses should be a pace setter for other states to emulate. You can see that the congresses were peaceful. Every member comported themselves to ensure the exercise was devoid of malpractices and manipulations.

“APC is now well positioned to take over the state government house come 2019. You can see in Abia, how the people are clamouring for change because of the misrule of PDP. So, we are poised to enthrone the needed change in Abia.”

Also reacting, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the party in Abia, Naval captain Jerry Obike Ogbonna,(Rtd), commended the congress committee for conducting a transparent exercise, stressing that every member of the party was allowed to vote for his or her choices.

According to ogbonna,” I must sincerely commend the congress committee members for ensuring transparency in the conduct of the APC ward congress in Abia.”

“You can see, there was no crisis throughout the exercise. Every member was allowed to vote according to their conscience.

So, I’m elated on the peaceful conduct of the congress in the state,” he added.
