APC gets new chairman – Daily Post Nigeria

Cross River State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Saturday elected Etim John as its new chairman.

The National Working Committee (NWC), through Deputy National Secretary of the party, Victor Giedan, had announced the poll.

John polled 56 votes to beat his only opponent, Dr. Mathew Achigbe, who polled 36 votes.

The congress held at the state party’s secretariat was conducted by a five-man screening/election committee led by Mohammed Indabawa.

The result announced by a member of the committee, indicated that out of the 94 accredited voters, 93 voted were recorded, while one vote was voided.

After his declaration, John said his priority would be to build a united and formidable party that would work assiduously towards securing victory in the 2019 general elections.

Meanwhile, senator representing the Central Senatorial District, John Owan-Enoh, who was a delegate at the congress, said the exercise was ordered by the national secretariat.

The senator said he was not aware of any court injunction against the conduct of the congress.

Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Usani, who was an observer at the congress, said the essence of the exercise was to revive the party to deliver.
