Rep. Umar Bago (APC-Chanchaga) said on Sunday that the All Progressive Congress, ward congress was an eye-opener to members of the party and served as a great lesson.

Bago, who disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna, said the congress indicated that new strategies must be deployed to win back the heart of the people.

“If there is anything that we have achieved in this Congress is that we left the grassroots after our victory for a while, which is not suppose to be.

“But we are human beings we will reached to our teeming supporters to see reason with us, work towards addressing our differences and work towards promoting our party’s lofty ideals,” he said.

Bago explained that the congress served as a reminder for the party to re-strategise and put its house in order for the overall growth of the party at the grassroots level.

He said that the congress showed there was a huge gap between the elected representatives and the electorates.

“We need to put in place political mechanism to correct our past mistakes, mobilize our supporters to register in the ongoing continuous voters registration exercise and shun all kind of violence,” he said.

Bago also commended party members for the peaceful conduct of the ward congress in the state.
