APC Challenges Governorship Election Results in Kano, Plateau, and Rivers States

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates have submitted petitions to the election petition tribunals in Kano, Plateau, and Rivers states, contesting the outcomes of the March 18 governorship elections.

In Kano State, the APC has filed a petition against the election of Kabir Yusuf from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) as governor-elect. The party alleges that Yusuf was ineligible to run for office since his name was supposedly not included in the NNPP members list submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The APC also argues that the NNPP did not win the majority of lawful votes.

Meanwhile, in Plateau State, APC governorship candidate Nentawe Yilwatda has filed a 400-page petition against Governor-elect Caleb Mutfuwang of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and INEC. Yilwatda’s petition is based on three grounds, including Mutfwang’s alleged ineligibility to run due to non-compliance with the Electoral Act and the claim that Mutfwang was not duly elected by the majority of lawful votes cast.
