Ambode dissolves boards of Lagos sports bodies, exempts Football Association

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has dissolved 36 State Sports Associations which were under the supervision of the Lagos State Sports Commission.

Only the State Football Association was excluded.

A statement by the Executive Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission, Kweku Tandoh, said the development was to rejig and reposition the activities of all State Sports Associations in line with the vision to become the Sports hub of Africa.

He listed the Sporting Associations dissolved as follows: Athletics, Badminton, Baseball and Boxing, Cricket, Cycling, Chess, Darts, Fives Football, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Karate, Kick-boxing, Kung fu, Tennis, Rugby, Rowing and Yachting, Scrabble and Shooting.

Others include Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tug of War, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Volleyball, Golf, Deaf Sports, Para Sports, Traditional Sports, Triathlon and Sports Medicine.

Tandoh that the chairmen and members of the dissolved Boards for their dedication and the voluntary services rendered towards the development of sports at the grassroots in Lagos.
