Adewole should have resigned after Buhari insulted him – Agoro

Dr. Olapade Agoro, National Chairman of the National Action Council (NAC) has spoken on the reinstatement of the suspended Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, Prof. Usman Yusuf by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said the development was a sign that the NHIS boss is now superior to Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole.

Adewole had suspended Yusuf in June 2017, following allegations of gross misconduct, nepotism and theft of public funds.

In a chat with New Telegraph, Agoro wondered why the minister was yet to resign.

“The reinstatement is wrong. It hurts me to the bone marrow that the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, is still staying in that office.

“What duty does he have in that office after being insulted?

“I don’t believe in any North-South agenda; we need a united nation of Nigeria. We would be proud to be called Nigerians.”

Agoro also spoke on the letters by former heads of states, President Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida on President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said Nigerians must speak out as majority were not comfortable with the state of economy, among other issues.

“This government met naira at N199 to a dollar; it is now hovering round N360 to one dollar.

“We are borrowing to sustain the government. We are losing many people through accidents on the Lagos –Ibadan Expressway because of the poor state of the road.

“The Kaduna–Abuja road will not be tolerated in any civilised situation. Former Minister of Internal Affairs, Senator John Shagaya, died recently in a road accident.

“Buhari’s minister, James Ocholi died along the Kaduna–Abuja road. We saw 73 innocent people murdered by herdsmen in January. How did herdsmen got AK47 riffles?”, he quipped.
