Abia APC accuses PDP of sponsoring crisis

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state of sponsoring, Chief Ikechi Emenike, a suspended member of the party, to cause division in the state leadership of APC.

This is coming barely a week after suspected thugs invaded the APC secretariat located at Azikwe road, Umuahia and carted away cash belonging to the party.

The APC chairman in the state, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, who made this known on Tuesday, said no amount of propaganda could derail the party from occupying the Abia government house come 2019.

“We know there is hand of PDP in the affairs. We are not bothered. And this cannot derail us on our march towards government house come 2019.

“The invasion of our party’s secretariat last week by thugs can best be described as a show of shame. But we will overcome this. The situation is under control. There is no cause for alarm,” he said.

The former Abia lawmaker urged members of the APC in the state to remain steadfast, despite the propaganda and blackmail by the PDP against the party.

He stressed that Abia APC was intact, and poised to form the next government in Abia, calling on all APC faithful to work hard and collectively to ensure the success of the party in the 2019 poll.

Meanwhile, effort by DAILY POST to reach the PDP Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr. Don Ubani, for his reaction, was unsuccessful as of the time of this report.
