Renowned Kano political singer, Dauda Kahutu Rarara, has urged a High Shari’ah Court in the state to dismiss a lawsuit filed against him. The singer is accused of failing to pay over N10 million to businessman Muhammad Ma’aji.
During a recent court session presided over by Justice Halhalatul Khuza’i Zakariyya at Rigiyar Zaki, Rarara’s counsel, G.A. Badawi, argued that the case lacked merit and should be dismissed. Badawi explained that they had submitted a written response to the complaint and the court, but the prosecution claimed to have received it late.
Complainant Muhammad Ma’aji told the court that he has documented evidence supporting his claims, which date back to the beginning of his business relationship with Rarara in 2021. However, he has yet to receive any payment.
Justice Halhalatul Khuza’i Zakariyya instructed the prosecution counsel to provide a written response to the defense counsel and the court. The case has been adjourned until May 12 for further hearing.
