5,000 APC members decamp to PDP in Delta

About 5,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ika North East local government area of Delta State on Monday dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area.

Most of the decampees were mainly from Ekwuoma wards in Ika North East local government area, who claimed they were fed up with APC’s alleged lawlessness and lies laced with deceit.

At an open field in Ekwuoma community, the defectors were received by PDP chieftain in the area, Chief Gabriel Azukaegbo Njokede, who assured them that there would be no discrimination against them, adding that their decision to move into the party automatically makes them one indivisible members of the party.

“Come 2019, our core mandate is to return Okowa for second term, therefore, I am confident that Okowa will win again to complete more projects” he said, urging the defectors to work assiduously for the victory of PDP at next year’s general elections.

The spokesman for the decampees, Kenneth Benson said they were in PDP before joining APC, revealing that they left PDP at that time because of leadership failure, adding that they are happy to be reunited with PDP.

While describing APC as a dead party, Benson assured that as fresh PDP members, they will do their best to mobilize supports for Okowa and other members of the party vying for positions in the 2019 elections.

Meanwhile, the PDP aspirant for Ughelli/Udu federal constituency, Chief Daji Oguma has said that the huge turn out of the party faithful and defections of members of APC to PDP were clear indications that the PDP is on ground, adding that come 2019 the party will win in all the elections.
