2019: Oyo ADC announces Dele Ajadi as tentative guber candidate

The Oyo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Sunday evening announced Dr. Dele Ajadi as its tentative gubernatorial candidate ahead of the 2019 general elections.

This is due to the failure of the party leaders and the thirteen (13) aspirants of the party to agree on the mode of its primary election and the candidate to pick on Sunday.

The leaders and the aspirants had Sunday morning converged at the Premier Hotel Ibadan in an effort to pick a consensus candidate.

But, the party after several hours of meetings held behind closed-doors at two separate locations in Ibadan, however, failed to agree on the candidate.

The decision to front Dele Ajadi, DAILY POST reports was in order to meet the INEC deadline Sunday evening.

Dr. Ajadi is one of the National Exco of the political party.

Ajadi, an indigene of Oyo state to the surprise of journalists and members of the party who had been waiting for the leaders of the party to announce its gubernatorial candidate since Sunday morning, was later announced around 6:00 p.m. at an event center along Old Ife-Ibadan Road by the state Chairman of the party, Dr. Ahmed Ayinla.

Ayinla said the decision to submit a tentative candidate was to help unite the party and to forestall looming crisis.

He also noted that the party was working tirelessly to choose a candidate that will be credible and lead the party to victory at the 2019 general elections.
