1,200 policemen receive promotion in Anambra

One thousand, two hundred policemen serving in Anambra State have been decorated with new ranks to depict their new promotions by the state police commissioner, Garba Umar.

The officers were recently promoted by the Police Service Commission, PSC.

DAILY POST gathered that it was the highest number of policemen ever promoted in any state at the same time.

Umar, who addressed the newly promoted officers and other ranks at the state police headquarters in Awka, reminded them that the promotion was meant to spur them to perform their duties well in their various capacities.

He said: “The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris feels that you are worthy to be elevated due to your hard work, professionalism and zero tolerance to corruption, following recommendation by the Police Service Commission, PSC.

“The IG expects you to put in your best by shunning corruption and other vices when dealing with the public.

“You must remain humble in the discharge of your duties and we hope this promotion will serve as moral booster for you to carry out your duties.

“The beauty of any country is measured through the behaviour of her police and I enjoin you to continue to exhibit good image for the police at all times.”

The commissioner advised those who were yet to be promoted to be patient, assuring that their promotion would come soon.
