Dangote on Wednesday joined Nigerians in suing for peace among themselves while kicking against reprisal attacks in the country.
DAILY POST had reported that xenophobia in South Africa angered many Nigerians who stormed various outlets of Shoprite, while calling for a boycott of South African businesses operating in Nigeria.
Some angry Nigerians on Tuesday invaded an outlet of Shoprite along Lekki-Epe expressway in Lagos State.
A protester was shot dead by police operatives at the Circle Mall, Jakande in the Lekki area of Lagos State, even as angry mob also set a police van ablaze.
Also reprisal attack on Nigerians in South Africa on Wednesday started in Abuja as protesters stormed Shoprite on Airport Road.
Dangote, reacting to the development, condemned reprisal attacks on businesses in Nigeria, appealing to Nigerians to shun hate.
According to him, Africa can only sustain prosperity when we live in peace and unity.
Dangote on his verified Twitter page wrote: “Our aspirations for a shared and sustainable prosperity can only be achieved when we live in peace and unity, shunning hate and any form of violent attack on African brotherhood.
“It is time for Africans to put Africa at the center of its own development, by harnessing our entrepreneurial and intellectual skills. Let us collectively shun hate and reprisal attacks.”
