Trump finally calls Putin on fourth term victory

President Donald Trump of the United States has called to congratulate Vladimir Putin of Russia on his reelection.

Putin won a landslide re-election victory on Sunday, extending his rule over the world’s largest country for another six years.

Officials said the duo spoke by phone on Tuesday, days after the Russian leader secured a fourth term in the Kremlin.

White House officials confirmed the call, but yet to provide details of their conversation, Washington Post reports.

The White House had earlier indicated that no call with Putin was planned and the Russian leader played down talk of a rift.
