Transfer: Salah to quit Liverpool for Real Madrid

A former England international footballer and manager, John Barnes has said that Mohamed Salah could leave Liverpool despite signing new contract.

The Champions League winners are in search of the best qualities around to replace Cristaino Ronaldo who left for Juventus.

“In modern football, you don’t worry about later down the line,” Barnes told Express Sport.

“Contracts mean nothing anyway. If some club bids £200m, I’m sure with or without a six-year contract, they would possibly look at that.

“The lack of a release clause means nothing, as do long contracts.

“Lets be happy that we’ve got him for next season and hopefully the season after that. Lets think about next year and he’ll be with us, which is fantastic.

“When you have top players, all clubs have to think short term. You can’t worry about what will happen down the line.”
