1. At least two persons were confirmed dead and six others injured, when a petrol-laden tanker fell at Amawbia Roundabout in Awka and went up in flames on Saturday night.

Eyewitnesses said no fewer than eight vehicles and some residential buildings within the vicinity were also destroyed in the inferno.

2. The All Progressives Congress, APC, has denied knowledge of giant broom monument mounted at the city gate in Abuja.

The ruling party claimed it was not responsible for the giant broom monument at the city gate .

3. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomole, on Saturday urged Nigerians not to believe the promise of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to create massive jobs.

Oshiomhole, who spoke in Lagos while addressing the crowd at the party’s presidential campaign rally, said the promise was a calculated ploy by the opposition party to deceive Nigerians and get their votes.

4. The Nigerian Army has debunked a report that troops of Egwu Eke lll, also known as Operation Python Dance 3, shot or wounded persons in Aba, Abia.

Col. Sagir Musa, Deputy Director, Public Relations, 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, in a statement in Enugu on Saturday, urged members of the public to disregard the false and misleading information.

5. The United Nation has advised stakeholders in the forthcoming general elections to avoid messages of hate, politics of acrimony, bitterness and rancour to avoid undermining the peace and stability of Nigeria.

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mohamed Ibn Chambas, gave the advice in Abuja on Saturday at a one-day national sensitisation workshop on Broadcast Media Coverage of the 2019 General Elections.

6. The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has attacked Peter Obi, the running mate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate over his claim of job creation.

Tinubu said the former Governor of Anambra state was only vast in creating “container economy” and not jobs.

7. Amina Bello, wife of the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello and three aides of the Kogi State Government on Saturday survived an auto crash along the Obajana-Kabba road on their way to Isanlu for the APC women rally.

The aides were: Mrs. Kelechi Ajayi, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Women and Children to the Governor; Mrs Ejura Edward, the SSA on Women Affairs, and Mrs Adesoro Olamide, the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Governor’s wife.

8. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kwara state chapter, has raised the alarm over alleged plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to implicate some of its members ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Ilorin on Monday.

The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Tunde Ashaolu, in a statement on Saturday, said the party has uncovered a sinister plot by the APC stalwarts to distribute PDP vests that they have printed and distribute to some hoodlums who have been hired to unleash terror on innocent residents.

9. The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, on Saturday appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to further extend the Feb. 11 deadline for collection of Permanent Voter Cards, PVC.

The National Public Relations Officer of the association, Azeez Adeyemi, who made the appeal in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, said that the extension became necessary considering the fact that most of the students who would be returning to school registered for their PVCs within the school environments.

10. The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has said he never told Nigerians to kill foreigners during elections.

El-Rufai said he had not asked any Nigerian to kill any foreigner they see during elections.
