Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has said the report of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Committee on restructuring, headed by the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai was politically designed to deceive people.

Governor Wike said this at the South-South Summit held in Port Harcourt.

The Governor who was represented by Head of Service, Godwins Rufus said the Presidency and the ruling party at the national level, are not sincere about the call of restructuring of the country.

He said, “I want to urge our people not to be hoodwinked by recent media reports that showed that Governor El Rufai-led Committee of the ruling party is now planning to restructure Nigeria.

“This coming close to the elections is already known for what it is posturing and designed to deceive Nigerians into thinking that the party that has denied all their promises to Nigerians can mid-way into the elections suddenly somersault into promising Nigerians restructuring.”

Leaders of the oil rich South-South region of Nigeria at the summit enjoined the Federal Government to take the issues of restructuring of the nation seriously.

Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, who is the co-convener of the Summit, Obong Victor Attah, noted that what the region is committed to policies that will make Nigeria work for all.
