Police reacts to Fulani herdsmen’s reported killing of passengers in Ibadan

The Nigerian Police has denied reports that suspected Fulani herdsmen were killing innocent Nigerians along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

A viral audio which circulated on social media had stated that Fulani herdsmen allegedly killed many people.

However, in a statement by Police Zonal PRO, Dolapo Badmus, the command described the report as false and baseless.

The statement read in part “the attention of the Zone 2 police force has been drawn has been drawn to the false news circulating on social media that some herdsmen are attacking and killing innocent citizens with Lagos /Ogun State axis.

“The false letter and voice note circulating indicate that there will also be an attack on 6 and 7th February 2018.

“The command wishes to stte that the news is not only baseless rumour but it is also false and such incident never occurred in that axis. it is an attempt by some element to disrupt the peaceful coexistence been enjoyed by various tribes and people within Lagos and Ogun state.”
