Police parade 20 suspected criminals, kidnappers in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has paraded suspected criminals arrested in different parts of the State within the last one month.

State Commissioner of Police, CP Zaki Ahmed while briefing newsmen at the Police Headquarters in Port Harcourt said most of the successes were achieved by the operatives of Federal-Special Anti Robbery Squad led by ACP Akin Fakorede.

CP Ahmed said the SARS Operatives apprehended an armed robbery gang at their hideout in Ada-George and smashed a kidnap gang responsible for most incidents of kidnap in Obio-Akpor and Port Harcourt Local government areas of the State.

While commending religious organizations for taking-on campaign against criminality in the State, Ahmed said the Police will continue in its effort to purge the State of criminals.

The commissioner said, “15 cars of different makes, nine pump action gums and 20 locally-made pistols, and several ammunitions were recovered from the suspects.

“1,000 firearms had been recovered in the arms mop-up campaign in Rivers.”
