Plateau suspends LG polls indefinitely, gives reasons

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Plateau State on Monday announced the “indefinite suspension” of the local government election which was scheduled for February 17, 2018.

The State electoral umpire cited “security reasons.”

The Chairman of PLASIEC, Fabian Ari Ntung, was reported to have taken the decision because he was “under pressure to compromise standards.”

Ntung made the announcement during a press conference in Jos, adding that the commission “received security reports.”
