Ahead of the 2019 general elections, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo state, Engr Oluwaseyi Makinde Tuesday night visited a former governor of the state, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, to woo him back to the party he recently dumped.
DAILY POST gathered Wednesday morning that Makinde, in company of Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeniyan and other stalwarts of the party, met Alao-Akala at his Awosika Ibadan residence to persuade him to their side for the party to win the next gubernatorial election in the state.
Alao-Akala, who confirmed the meeting and the visit of the duo and other members of the party in a statement signed on his behalf by Jeremiah Akande, Head, New Media and Public Affairs of Akala Campaign Organization, added that the main point of the meeting was to intimate their host of the leadership vacuum that has existed within PDP in the state with the exit of former governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja.
Akande, in the statement obtained by DAILY POST, said “Today, His Excellency, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala received in audience two chieftains of the opposition People’s Democratic Party in the person of Engineer Seyi Makinde and Alhaji Bisi Olopeniyan at his Awosika residence in Ibadan.
“The main crux of the visit was to intimate Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala of the leadership vacuum that has existed within the rank of the PDP in Oyo state with the exit of Sen. Rashidi Ladoja from the party and to once again invite His Excellency, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala to come and Lead the party with his wealth of experience.
“The duo also brought good tidings from the National Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party and expressed the readiness of the National Working Committee of the PDP to work with Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala.
“Welcoming the guests, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala thanked them for the gesture extended to him by the leadership of the party at various levels and the confidence reposed on him.”
