1. The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday adjourned plenary to Wednesday, March 13, 2019 over the death of Hon. Temitope Olatoye, ‘Sugar’ representing Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The adjournment followed a point of Order by the Senate leader, Senator Ahmed Lawan, to suspend plenary as a result of the death of the lawmaker in the lower chamber.

2. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed March 23 for supplementary election in the six states where March 9 elections were declared inconclusive.

A statement signed by the chairman of the commission’s information and voter education committee, Festus Okoye, on Tuesday, said the states are: Benue, Sokoto, Plateau, Adamawa, Kano and Bauchi.

3. Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has named Hadiza Balarabe, deputy governor elect as the head of a 38-member transition committee, he set up ahead of his inauguration for a second term in office.

El-Rufai explained that the duty of the transition committee was to prepare the ground work for the government.

4. President Muhammadu Buhari has set up an audit committee, for the policies, programmes and projects under his administration.

The committee will be headed by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, while the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, is one of its members.

5. The Nigerian Army on Tuesday said its troops successfully foiled a coordinated attack by Boko Haram insurgents at a military location in Borno.

Col. Ado Isa, Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Operation Lafiya Dole, stated that troops of 152 Battalion neutralized a number of the insurgents when they attempted to infiltrate its location on Monday at Bula-Yobe-Banki axis in Borno.

6. The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has announced date for its 2019 recruitment process

NAF disclosed that the recruitment exercise will commence on Saturday 16th – Saturday 30th March 2019 at 15 Centres.

7. The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has reacted to the victory of Hon. Emeka Ihedioha in the state’s governorship Election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He described it as victory for the people of the State, adding that it was liberation for them from the hand of the ‘oppressor.’

8. Troops of Operation Sharan Daji have killed 55 bandits and rescued 760 persons abducted from villages in Zamfara state.

Acting Force Information Officer, Maj. Clement Abiade in Gusau on Tuesday, said, the troops also recovered weapons, ammunition and rustled cows as they blocked all entry points to the bushes to deny the bandits free movement while building confidence of the locals.

9. The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Plateau State has won 14 out of the 24 seats in the State House of Assembly, while the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, won 8 seats.

The APC won in Bokkos, Wase, Shendam, Pankshin North, Pankshin South, Mangu North, Kanke, it also won in Dengi and Kantana constituencies of Kanam LGA and others, while the main opposition PDP won in Riyom, Jos North-West, Jos South, Langtang North-North and Langtang North-Central.

10. The Adara Development Association, ADA, in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has raised the alarm that the state government has remained indifferent over the continued killings and burning of houses in the area.

The community development association in a statement issued by Barrister Luke Waziri, its Assistant National Secretary said, “Kajuru land and by extension the Adara nation has been gripped by a fully-funded and supported group of terrorists that have been wreaking havoc in our lands for long, while those saddled with the responsibility of securing us deliberately looked the other way.”
