1. A group, Access to Justice, on Sunday asked President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Adamu Bulkachuwa, to step down from the Election Tribunal hearing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku Abubakar’s petition against the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The justice advocacy group said this had become necessary as Bulkachuwa is married to a Senator-elect on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mohammed Bulkachuwa.

2. Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, Sunday night, presented staff office to the newly appointed Emir of Gaya, Ibrahim Abdulkadir.

The presentation took place 48 hours after a State High Court stopped the governor, the State House of Assembly and the Attorney-General from implementing the splitting of the Kano Emirate.

3. Wudil indigenes in Kano State have appealed to the State House of Assembly and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to revisit the recent creation of Gaya Emirate Council under which they have been grouped.

Alhaji Yawale Muhammad-Idris, spokesman of the indigenes, who made the call shortly after a stakeholders’ meeting on Sunday in Wudil, headquarters of Wudil Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, appealed to the State Government to return them to the old Kano Emirate where they rightly belong.

4. The Director, Corporate Communications, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Mr Isaac Okoroafor has said that no money is missing or stolen from the bank’s coffers as reported in some section of the media.

Okoroafor said this in a statement on Sunday while reacting to a recent article and audio clips in which the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, and other senior officials were heard discussing discrepancies in the bank’s accounts.

5. Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a policeman and a soldier for illegal possession of ammunition.

Col. Sagir Musa, the Acting Director Army Public Relations in a statement said that a Mobile policeman, Sgt. Markus John, with number PNo 383106 was arrested at Njimtilo check point on Maiduguri-Damaturu road, while on transit to Lagos.

6. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has recalled the 12 suspended Local Government Council Chairmen.

They are heads of Okrika, Emohua, Abua/Odual, Degema, Khana, Gokana, Ahoada East, Ikwerre, Eleme, Andoni, Omuma and Ogu/Bolo Local Government Areas.

7. Former Governor of old Anambra State, Jim Nwobodo, has revealed why Nigeria will never have peace.

Nwobodo said peace will continue to elude Nigeria until somebody from the Igbo extraction is allowed to become president.

8. ISIL has claimed killing of 11 Nigerian soldiers in an attack on the northeastern town of Gajiganna, Borno.

Reports said that the group made the claim at the weekend through its news agency, AMAQ.

9. Outgoing Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has claimed that the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, once sent his DSS detail to insult him.

Okorocha said he had gone to interact with his party Chairman about issues relating to happenings in the party when he (Oshiomhole) sent his DSS personnel to push him out of his office.

10. Manchester City are champions of England again.

Pep Guardiola’s men, who won the title last season, came from a goal down to defeat Brighton 4-1 at the Amex Stadium.
