His kidnap and eventual murder was suspected to be as a result of communal crisis rocking Isu Aniocha community.<\/p>\n
Okoye\u2019s corpse was found at about 9am on Sunday, after a distress call was made to the police at Dunukofia Division that a middle age man was found lying unconscious at the boundary between Isu Aniocha and Nawgu village.<\/p>\n
Spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed said, \u201cFollowing the report, Police Patrol team attached to Dunukofia Division visited the scene in conjunction with vigilante group.<\/p>\n
\u201cVictim was photographed and rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on arrival.<\/p>\n
\u201cPreliminary investigation revealed that the victim was one Angus Okoye \u2018m\u2019 aged 48 years.He was allegedly kidnapped from his residence at ifite Isu village, Isu Aniocha in Awka North LGA on the 15\/12\/2018 at about 11:30 pm.<\/p>\n
\u201cVictim was shot on the head and neck by his assailants and his Honda Pilot with REG number Lagos.FST 430 DM was abandoned.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mohammed said the incident may not be unconnected with the recent crisis in Isu Anoacha community in which both the warring factions were warned by the Police not to take laws into their hands.<\/p>\n
Exhibits recovered at the scene include: one expended cartridge and three (3) empty shells of barreta pistol.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, corpse has been deposited at the Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy, with the case under investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident, while police assured that effort was being intensified to apprehend suspects behind the dastardly act in order to bring them to justice.\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
